The cloud is seen as an opportunity for large and small enterprises alike to achieve greater efficiencies at a lower cost, but there’s still confusion about what exactly the cloud is and how it can help. The cloud is not a product, and it doesn’t come neatly packaged in a box.

There’s a lot of hype around the cloud, including making its way into the mainstream through television commercials (Microsoft’s new “to the cloud” ads), which reach a much wider audience than just IT managers, but many still find it difficult to understand what exactly the cloud is and what it isn’t.
